NOTES

DISCLAIMER – do not rely on these study notes in court.

For the purposes of the basic beemaster exam these are the things that you should know that should go on a honey jar label.

1. The word “Honey”. If more specfic eg “Heather Honey” then it must only be heather honey in the jar and not a blend or any other type.

2. Name and address of the producer.

3. The country of origin.

4. Best before date, or a batch number. If a batch number then there must be a record of the batches available.

5. The weight in grams. You can put imperial weight in addition.

If you are intending selling honey then you should probably read or at least be aware of the various regulations. The food standards agency has guidance that includes a list of relevant legislation – honeyguidance.pdf
