3.15 able to describe methods of securing stocks prior to moving;

NOTES

Hives need to be securely fastened into one piece with no gaps or holes available for the bees to escape.

Hive straps can be used to bind the hive boxes together – the ones with a ratchet mechanism probably give the tightest fit. Take the roof off before strapping up the boxes as the roof is usually not tight fitting.

A piece of foam can be put across the entrance to seal it, or the entrance block might have a design that allows it to seal the gap.

Make sure that no hive parts will be able to slip apart as the hive is being manoeuvred.
